Hit-and-run leaves 1 dead in Quezon town

LUCENA CITY – A hit-and-run along Maharlika Highway in Lopez town in Quezon province claimed the life of woman early Saturday, police said.

The victim, Nena Nebril, 66, was crossing the highway to take a bathroom break in a gas station when she was hit by a speeding
Bicol-bound RMB passenger in Barangay (village) Burgos around 1:35 a.m., the police report said.

The bus sped off from the scene while the victim died on the spot.

Police stations in neighboring towns were tapped by Lopez police to intercept and arrest the bus driver who was eventually caught in Barangay Tabugon in Sta. Elena town in Camarines Norte province.

The name of the suspect was not immediately available.
