BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—A passenger bus bound for Baguio City plunged into a grassy field at Carranglan town in Nueva Ecija on Friday night (May 19), but no passenger was hurt.
The bus, operated by Northern Luzon Bus Line, skidded off the highway in Barangay (village) Minuli at 11 p.m., said PO3 Oliver Antonio, who led a team of rescuers that rushed to the crash site.
“The driver said the road was slippery because of the rain,” he said.
All 34 passengers were unhurt, and were made to transfer to another bus heading for their respective destinations, Antonio said.
The crash site is part of the 50-km stretch of mountain highway at the Nueva Vizcaya – Nueva Ecija border, which has earned the label as “killer highway” due to the series of vehicular crashes that has claimed lives over the years.
On April 18, 33 persons were killed and 46 others were injured when an overloaded passenger bus fell off a cliff in nearby Capintalan village.
