Duterte appoints former Davao Occidental judge as LRA chief

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Renato Bermejo, a former Davao Occidental judge, to head the Land Registration Authority (LRA), an agency attached to the Department of Justice (DOJ). He will take the place of Eulalio Diaz III.

Duterte signed Bermejo’s appointment paper on May 10.

Bermejo was a city prosecutor before becoming a judge.

The LRA is an agency responsible for issuing decrees of registration and certificates of title and register documents, patents and other land transaction for the benefit of landowners, agrarian reform-beneficiaries and the registering public in general; providing a secure, stable and trustworthy record of land ownership and recorded interests therein so as to promote social and economic well-being and contribute to the national development. /atm
