Magnitude 4.4 quake hits Leyte

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake jolted Leyte on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck some eight kilometers southwest of Capoocan town in Leyte at 9:29 a.m.

It had a depth of five kilometers.

Intensity IV was recorded in Capoocan, Intensity III in Kananga town, and Intensity II in Tabango town.

Phivolcs said no damages and aftershocks were expected. YG/CBB/rga
