An Uber driver said he was blackmailed into giving P10,000 in cash and his cell phone to two passengers who said they were agents of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

In a complaint filed with the Pasay City police, Jayson de Guzman, 36, said he sought police assistance when the suspects asked for P10,000 more.

De Guzman said a certain Ryan booked a ride around 8:30 a.m. last Saturday. The passenger boarded his vehicle with another man in Pasay City.

Case investigator PO2 Elvin Olmedillo said the two men said they were LTFRB agents and asked for De Guzman’s registration papers as an Uber driver.

De Guzman told them the papers were still being processed. But being new to the city, he got scared and gave in when the suspects demanded money. De Guzman later went to the police which set up an entrapment operation but the suspects stopped contacting him.
