The Senate received the highest public satisfaction rating over other government institutions in the first quarter of 2017, according to a recent survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The poll, conducted from March 25 to 28, showed that the Senate received a net public satisfaction rating of a “very good” +52, four points higher than the “good” +48 it received in December last year.

The House of Representatives also inched up its net public satisfaction score by two points, from a “good” +36 in December to +39 in the previous quarter.
The Supreme Court likewise gained two points in its net satisfaction rating from a “good” +38 to +40.
Only the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet remained flat at a “good” +32, similar to its score in the previous survey last December.
Fifty percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the Cabinet’s performance, 17 percent were dissatisfied, while 31 percent were undecided.
SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of at least +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very good”; +30 to +49 as “good”; +10 to +29 as “moderate”; +9 to -9 as “neutral”; -10 to -29 as “poor”; -30 to -49 as “bad”; -50 to -69 as “very bad”; and -70 and below as “execrable.”
The survey, conducted through face to face interviews of 1,200 adult respondents, had an error margin of ±3 percent. It was first published in BusinessWorld. JE/rga
