Truck driver dies in Quezon road accident

LUCENA CITY – A driver was killed after his truck hit a passenger bus along the Bondoc Peninsula Highway in General Luna town in Quezon province early Friday, police said.

Reports said Melwin Gusto, who was driving a Mitsubishi Fuso truck bound for Lucena City, died while being treated for head injuries at Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital in Catanauan town.

The accident happened along a section of the highway in Barangay Bacong Ilaya at 4 a.m.

The bus driver, Aldren Matibag, was detained at the General Luna police jail. JE/rga
