2 dead in drug-related shootings in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — Two were killed in separate shootings related to illegal drugs in Laguna, the police said Wednesday.

In Sta. Rosa City, suspected drug pusher Dino Cuevas was killed during a buy-bust operation around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay (village) Caingin.

A report from the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (Calabarzon) Police said Cuevas was dealing with undercover policemen when he suddenly engaged the officers in a gunfight. The police shot him dead while his two other companions, whom the police failed to identify, escaped.

In Calamba City, Elmer Nebalga Santos, a surrenderer to the government’s Oplan Tokhang, was shot dead around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Parian.

Based on witnesses’ accounts, the police identified the gunman as a certain Arthur Plaza. Plaza escaped after the shooting.  SFM
