The University of Santo Tomas, the oldest university in the Philippines, was founded on April 28, 1611. It was first called Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario with the original campus located in Intramuros, Manila. It was later renamed Colegio de Santo Tomas in memory of St. Thomas Aquinas. In 1927, the campus transferred to its present site on España Boulevard, Manila. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
