SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — A woman died in a fire that razed two houses in Sta. Cruz town in Laguna Thursday, authorities said.

The fatality was Jackilou Aquino, 20, a daughter of one of the owners of the two houses in Barangay (village) Bagumbayan, which were razed by the fire that started at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Rommel Palacol of the Laguna Action Center said.

Jackilou suffered from epilepsy although it was not clear if she had experienced an attack during the fire. Her body was found inside the bathroom.

Palacol said the fire was put under control by 10 a.m.

In Naic town in Cavite, 11 houses and six business establishments were also razed by fire on Wednesday morning.

A report from the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (Calabarzon) police said the fire started at around 10:30 a.m. in the house of a certain Natividad Dy in Barangay Zamora.

The fire spread and reached a fifth alarm before it was put out around 1 p.m. The Bureau of Fire Protection placed property losses at around P3 million.
