Cuss words mar Duterte speech at Palaro opening
SAN JOSE, Antique – He successfully suppressed it twice or thrice.
But near the end of his speech, President Duterte again could not help but curse as he spoke before thousands of elementary and high school athletes.
“‘Tang Ina,” he uttered near the end of his 35-minute speech at the opening program of the 2017 Palarong Pambansa at the Evelio B. Javier Memorial Sports Complex on Sunday.
While the President also spoke on the importance of sports and education, he again ranted about terrorists and the problem on illegal drugs.
In several occasions, he left his sentences hanging or just muttered unintelligibly when he was about to curse.
He again threatened to “lock down” Mindanao to “end terrorism,” referring to the Abu Sayyaf bandit group which he said was influenced by the terror group.
Article continues after this advertisementThe President who was accompanied by his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña and daughter their Kitty, said policemen and soldiers were also getting killed in the fight against illegal drugs.
Article continues after this advertisementHe also cited 7,700 drug-related crimes and four million “contaminated” to stress the gravity of the illegal drug problem without elaborating or giving details on the figures.
“My order for (the policemen) is to arrest (drug personalities) as much as possible,” the President said.
But he said the policemen can also shoot the “idiot(s)” if they fight back.
He said his government “will suppress drugs at any cost.”
