Mother, child die in house fire in CamNorte
NAGA CITY — A mother and her child died in an early morning house fire that lasted for more than twelve hours in Paracale town in Camarines Norte Tuesday, the fire department said Wednesday.
Nerresa Delemios, 36, and her daughter Jessa Delemios, 9, tried to escape but were trapped when a blaze engulfed their home in Purok (sub-village) 5, Barangay (village) Dalmac at around 3:20 a.m., a report from the Camarines Norte Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.
Mike Delemios, the father of the family, and son Jerick were wounded in the incident while another daughter Nerry Mae was unhurt.
According to Mike, the fire had already consumed the large part of the house when they were awakened. The residents near the area tried to put out the fire but failed.
Firefighters from Paracale and neighboring town of Labo also responded but the house was fully engulfed with flames when they arrived. It was declared fire out at around 4 p.m.
An investigation was launched to determine the cause of the fire. Hanna M. Pading, Inquirer Southern Luzon Intern/JE
