1 killed in vehicle accident
A delivery truck crashed into a concrete post in Antipolo City on Friday night, killing the driver and injuring his helper.
Police said Junie Arellano Masinas, 37, a resident of Taytay, Rizal, died while being treated at the hospital while 25-year-old helper Johnny de la Cruz remained in critical condition at the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center.
The accident happened at around 10 p.m. along Olalia Road in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City.
Case investigator PO2 Jeare Agra said in his report that the Elf truck, which Masinas was driving, was traversing the Olalia Road going to Cogeo, Antipolo, when he lost control of the vehicle as he tried to avoid an approaching tricycle.
Agra said the truck swerved to the left lane and hit a concrete PLDT post. He said the impact caused the truck to “turn turtle” and flip over.
The two were immediately rushed to the hospital after sustaining head and body injuries. But the driver was pronounced dead later.
