Days after tropical depression “Crising” swamped the Visayas, a new low pressure (LPA) has been sighted off Zambales, according to the state weather bureau.

In an advisory on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last plotted some 340 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.

But Pagasa said the LPA has no direct effect on parts of the country yet.

“The general public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to monitor for the next update to be issued on or before the issuance of the Public Weather Forecast at 5:00 p.m. today. The next weather advisory will be issued at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow,” Pagasa added.

Crising  weakened into an LPA after making landfall over Samar on Black Saturday, stranding about 4,500 passengers and 400 sea vessels in the Bicol and the Visayas regions. At least eight people were reported dead due to heavy flooding in Cebu. IDL/rga
