DID YOU KNOW: National Hemophilia Awareness

12:11 AM April 17, 2017

April was declared National Hemophilia Awareness Month and April 17 as National Hemophilia Day by virtue of Proclamation No. 1478 signed on April 3, 2008, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. According to the Philippine Council for Research and Development, experts estimate that 6,000 to 8,000 Filipinos suffer from hemophilia but only about a thousand have been diagnosed. The Department of Health is the designated agency to lead the observance.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
