A low pressure area (LPA) may develop into a tropical depression off the coast of Surigao Del Norte in Mindanao, the state weather bureau said.
The LPA was estimated at 615 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte as of 10 a.m. on Good Friday, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its Facebook account.
The state weather bureau said the LPA “will likely develop” into a tropical depression.
The LPA would bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the Eastern Visayas and Caraga regions, Pagasa said.
The Bicol region and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao would have light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, it added. Pagasa will release its initial Severe Weather Bulletin 5 p.m. later.
Pagasa earlier said that the tropical depression would be named “Crising” and is expected to make landfall on Black Saturday. The LPA would likely be felt in the eastern parts of Visayas, Bicol, and Mindanao on Saturday morning. IDL
