CIDG announces arrest of 4 illegal recruiters

/ 05:15 AM April 13, 2017

Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of what they said were four illegal recruiters who lured victims to nonexistent jobs in France, New Zealand and Malaysia.

Director Roel Obusan, head of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said arrested in separate operations were Remigio B. Mariano, 46; Julieta Lipit, 52; Shiela Marie Amil, 47, and Mary Keith Velasco, 28.

The recruiters duped their victims into paying P20,000 to P60,000. “The victims left behind their loved ones, sold their land and other properties so they could pay for this hocus pocus,” said Obusan.—PHILIP C. TUBEZA
