Makati City suspends number coding

01:25 AM April 13, 2017

The Makati City government has lifted the number coding scheme today and tomorrow in observance of Holy Week. The city implements the traffic measure separately from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. Two-way traffic will be observed on the stretch of J. P. Rizal Avenue from Makati Avenue to Nicanor Garcia Street starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday until 5 a.m. Monday, April 17. The Makati Public Safety Department said this was due to ongoing pipe-laying works being done by Manila Water. Motorists were also advised to take alternate routes as some roads would be closed due to the installation of “kalbaryo” (tableaus with religious themes) in Barangays Poblacion and Guadalupe Viejo. Residents gather in the tableaus for the “Pabasa.” —Erika Sauler
