Luzon power grid alert status lowered from red to yellow – NGCP

/ 03:13 PM April 11, 2017

The alert status of the Luzon power grid was lowered on Tuesday from red alert to yellow alert, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said in an advisory.

The NGCP said the available capacity was set at 10,140 megawatts, compared to the peak demand of 9,234 MW.

The NGCP, the agency in charge of country’s transmission superhighway, announced the yellow alert from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., a downgrade from the declared red alert on Monday afternoon at the same time.

A yellow alert means power reserves have dropped below the minimum 647 MW. A  red alert means a high power deficiency – more than 200 MW a day earlier – that may cause brownouts in some areas. /atm/rga
