Army colonel’s wife injured in Mandaluyong snatching incident

An Army colonel’s wife was injured after being dragged by a man on a motorcycle who tried to steal her shoulder bag in Mandaluyong City on Friday morning.

The police said Ma. Judith Matanguihan, 52, a Taguig City resident, was walking toward her car in the compound of Solid Gold Realty on JR Yulo Street, Barangay Addition Hills, when the snatcher approached from the opposite direction and grabbed her bag.

Refusing to let go, Matanguihan lost her balance and was dragged by the robber for a few meters. He fled empty-handed, driving off toward Laurel Street after seeing a security guard coming to the woman’s aid.

The guard and other witnesses tried to run after the robber but failed to catch him. The robber wore a black jacket and red helmet, and was using a Honda Wave motorcycle.

Matanguihan, who sustained minor injuries, was brought by her driver to the hospital.

She is the wife of Col. Arnulfo Matanguihan, commander of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade, according to Senior Supt. Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief.
