It took Chris Martin and his Grammy-winning rock band Coldplay 17 years to see just how popular they are in the Philippines.
The 40-year-old musician wasted no time in reciprocating the love by delivering a thrilling and crackling two-hour musical treat for Filipino fans on April 4 at SM Mall of Asia concert grounds.
The show included a moving rendition of “Ink,” a track from the band’s 2014 smash album “Ghost Stories,” dedicated to Ken Valiant Santiago, the cancer-stricken Filipino fan Martin visited a couple of hours before the jam-packed concert.
“It’s such a thrill and an honor, so I thank everyone for being so welcoming and kind to us and making us feel amazing,” Martin, who was married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow from 2003 to 2016, told the audience, which included top local celebrities.
