Portions of the Regalado Highway in Quezon City will be closed to give way to the construction of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 7.
Starting April 17 until June 16, Regalado Highway will be partially closed from Bristol St. to Commonwealth Avenue. However, a one-way single lane will remain open for motorists coming from Commonwealth Ave. and proceeding toward Quirino Highway.
Motorists coming from San Jose Del Monte going to Quezon Memorial Circle may take the following alternative routes:
- Via Quirino Highway and Commonwealth Ave.
- Via Belfast St. and Mindanao Ave.
And from Quezon Memorial Circle to San Jose Del Monte, motorists may use:
- Via Mindanao Ave. and Regalado Highway
- Via Bristol St. and Ascension St.
For the second phase of the partial closure starting June 16 to August 15, the Regalado Highway will be partially closed from Mindanao Ave. to Bristol St., a similar single lane will remain open for motorists from Commonwealth Ave. to Quirino Highway. Alternative routes earlier mentioned may also be used.
The MRT 7 traffic task force noted that the lanes will be re-opened as soon as constructions are done and warned motorists that parked vehicles along Regalado Highway will be towed.
The P69.30-billion MRT 7 project includes the development of a 23-km railway system with 14 stations from North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Once completed and operational by April 2020, the elevated train system is expected to initially accommodate 350,000 daily passengers and shorten travel time from the current 3.5 hours on the road to one hour. IDL
