In deference to the gag order issued by Judge Gilbert Moises of Regional Trial Court Branch 18, the Philippine Daily Inquirer is taking down the story “Cebu City mayor refuses to renew permits of 27 BDO branches” from its news website, Inquirer.net and all of its social media platforms.
Last March 28, the court ordered Mayor Tomas Osmeña to refrain from issuing any media statements against the bank when it issued a writ of preliminary injunction. The court enjoined the mayor “from performing any act that leads to and/or causes the closure of BDO’s branches in Cebu City, including requiring information or document not prescribed by existing law and regulations, as well as making statements similar to those made in the newspapers.” SFM
