Fire leaves 1,000 people homeless in Bacoor

SAN PEDRO CITY — A residential area in a coastal village in Bacoor City, Cavite was razed by fire that started Wednesday afternoon.

In a phone interview, Chief Insp. Robert Dimapilis, chief of the Bacoor City Poice Station, said the fire started around 4:30 p.m. in Barangay Maliksi 3
.
As of 7:30 p.m., the fire was still burning, affecting at least 1,000 people in the settlement area where most houses were made of light materials.

In her Twitter account, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado advised motorists to avoid Evangelista Street where the fire was raging.

Dimapilis said firefighters had not determined the cause of the blaze.
