‘Amihan,’ cold front bring rains

Summer may be fast approaching, but some parts of the country will still experience rainfall due to effects of the northeast monsoon and the tail-end of a cold front.

In its 24-hour forecast issued on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” would continue to affect northern and central Luzon, while the tail-end of a cold front will continue to affect the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.

The weather bureau expects moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Visayas, Bicol, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao and Quezon province, and light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Ilocos region and the rest of Central Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also experience isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, Pagasa said. —JAYMEE GAMIL
