THE Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) beat the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Red, 85-73, Wednesday night for its first win in two outings and tie its victims with identical 1-1 win-loss cards in the 2011 Wednesday Club Christmas basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
PICPA jumped to a, 17-12 lead in the opening period with Lito Ortiz and Fred Yu leading the early assault. But IBP responded with a 28-20 rally in the 2nd period behind the hot tandem of Benjo Macion and Al Lagahit to grab a three-point advantage, 40-37, at the half.
IBP continued to play solid basketball in the third and outscored IBP, 20-14 to widen its lead to, 60-51.
However, IBP squandered its a nine-point 3rd quarter lead when it succumbed to crucial errors and missed shots as PICPA unloaded a searing, 34-13 blast behind the Bonsucan brothers, Arjam and Jacon to seal the 12-point demolition.
Jacon Bonsucan and Arjam Bonsucan led PICPA with 18 and 16 points, respectively while Lito Ortiz and Alfen Yu combined for 27 points.
Al Lagahit and Benjo Macion topped the losing squad with 22 and 21 points, respectively.
