TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan —- Police are working to identify the charred remains found at a cemetery in Iguig town on Saturday morning (April 1).
Senior Insp. Avelino Canceran, Jr., Iguig police chief, said they have sent out notices regarding the discovery of the unidentified body to police stations with records of missing persons.
“We just could not give any other descriptive details, including the gender, because the body was burned beyond recognition,” he said.
The charred body was found by a local farmer underneath overgrown bushes at an unoccupied portion of a public cemetery in Barangay (village) Nattanzan, about 800 meters from the national highway.
Investigators also found a bullet and a spent cartridge near the body. SFM/rga
