OLONGAPO CITY — Ten people were killed and four others were injured on Thursday afternoon in collision between a delivery truck and a multicab van in Botolan town in Zambales province.
The victims were passengers of the van, which was struck by the Olongapo-bound white delivery truck in Barangay Carael at 2:45 p.m., according to SPO1 Larry Deliguin, investigator at Botolan Municipal Police Station.
The truck driver said he lost control of his vehicle after its front left tire burst.
Deliguin said seven of the van passengers died on the spot while three others were declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Iba town.
Four other passengers of the multicab van were injured and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The van’s passengers came from a seminar and were returning to Barangay Amungan in the capitol town of Iba.
Authorities have not released the identities of the casualties as of this writing. /atm
