Firefighters are among the bravest men and women on the planet. Who knew that they’d also be so good at catching people in mid-air? This skill was exemplified by Chinese firefighters as they caught not one but two women mid-fall, and bring them to safety.
The footage was taken through cellphones when a fire broke out one Saturday night in Jiaxing, somewhere in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, reports South China Morning Post.
On the video, firefighters managed to grab hold of a woman’s legs from the lower floor as she dangled from the sixth floor room window.
Later on a second woman from another room accidentally fell from a window before firefighters could secure her with ropes. Thankfully, they were able to catch her feet as well.
The fire occurred in an apartment on the top floor of a six-storey residential building. One of the female residents of the apartment reported that an electric blanket overheated and ignited while her father was sleeping on the couch. The mother had burns on her right arm and was rushed to the hospital, while the father and daughter were unharmed.
Jiang Tiancai, one of the firefighters said, “We just got her feet when she began to fall, and it was scary. I wouldn’t be able to sleep in the future if I failed to catch her.”
