The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has summoned several personalities to shed light in their investigation on alleged anomalies at the National Printing Office (NPO) involving printing jobs for the Social Security System (SSS) amounting to P74 million.
Required to appear before the NBI’s Anti-Fraud Division are Engineer Rolando Calauag, officer in charge of NPO and former members of NPO-Bids and Awards Committee – Sherwin Prose Castañeda, Ma. Cristina Morales, Michelle Japson, Benedict Sagun, Amado Valsorable; BAC Secretariat members Teres Tobias, Dina Badua, Winon Balmores, Wilma Delansig, Federico Israel Ramos III and Jennifer Tomas.
They are required to provide documents on April 3, 2017.
The NPO had a P74-million contract with Western Visayas Printing Corp. (WVPC), And yet the NPO still awarded work orders to three other firms.
Last year, an investigation was conducted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Legal Affairs on orders of Secretary Martin Andanar following the resignation of some of NPO officials.
Undersecretary Enrique Tandan III, who heads Legal Affairs, then referred the matter to the proper investigating agency to continue the probe and for the possibility of filing criminal complaints. /atm
