Hunt on for woman cop who shot ex-lover’s husband
Authorities have launched a hunt for the Quezon City policewoman who shot and wounded on Monday the husband of the woman she allegedly had an affair with.
PO1 Wealyn Ojastro, a member of the Novaliches police station, remains at large after she shot Mark Kevin Tumbaga around 1 a.m. inside the victim’s house on Naval Street in Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches.
In a report filed in the Quezon City Police District, Novaliches station commander Supt. April Mark Young said that the 33-year-old victim told investigators that his wife had recently ended her affair with the suspect.
He added that Ojastro’s attack on him came after his wife, Glaiza, left the suspect and returned to their home.
Tumbaga, who works as a security guard, told authorities that he and his wife were sound asleep early Monday morning when they were awakened by the sound of someone removing the glass from their window.
When he opened the door, Tumbaga said he saw Ojastro carrying a gun.
He added that he tried to immediately close the door when he saw that the suspect was armed but the latter threw some glass panels at his face and fled.
Tumbaga said that Glaiza helped him and was about to bring him to the hospital when Ojastro returned to their house.
When she saw Glaiza, the suspect kicked her and fired once at Tumbaga, hitting him on the right leg, the victim added.
The policewoman then fled while Tumbaga was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains confined.
Authorities said they have yet to get a statement from Glaiza, the victim’s wife.
