A coaccused of 1-Pacman Rep. Michael “Mikee” Romero is questioning their arrest for allegedly embezzling P3.4 million from Harbour Centre Port Terminal Inc. (HCPTI), a company owned by his father, construction magnate Reghis Romero II.
Felicia Aquino, a former cashier of HCPTI, has asked the Court of Appeals to issue a temporary restraining order and void the arrest order issued on them by Judge Cicero Jurado Jr. of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 11.
In a two-page resolution, the appellate court’s Sixth Division directed Jerome Canlas, the corporate secretary of HCPTI, to comment within 10 days on the petition lodged by Aquino.
Aquino also petitioned the court to bar Jurado from trying the case and junk the criminal complaint against them for lack of probable cause.
“Without meaning to give due course to the instant petition,(Canlas) is directed to file a comment thereon (not a motion to dismiss) within (10) days from notice,” read the appellate court’s March 22 order.
The resolution was written by Associate Justice Magdangal de Leon.
