Cop hurt as he loses gold necklace to robbers in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — A Manila policeman was injured when six unidentified men aboard three motorcycles fired at him in Tondo Friday evening, an officer said.
Senior Police Officer 3 Emerson Gaa of the Manila Police District identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Benjamin Oh who lost his P30,000 gold necklace and his Philippine National Police ID to the suspects who attacked him with a .45 caliber pistol and an uzi submachine gun.
Gaa said Oh escaped with only a gunshot wound to his thigh and was now at the Mary Johnston Hospital after being transferred from Tondo General Hospital.
“Actually, yung ibang tira nila tumama sa salamin ng katapat na bangko [their other shots hit the glass of the bank across],” he added.
The suspects fled the scene with the stolen items, Gaa said.
An investigation is underway, Gaa said.
