Two Grade 8 students drown in Isabela

DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela—Two Grade 8 students drowned at the Cagayan river here on Friday afternoon, police said.

Christine Jhane Padilla and Casmer Ramos of Luna town were dragged along the waters at 2:55 p.m. along Barangay (village) Quibalon. Their remains have been recovered by rescuers.

Padilla and Ramos were at the river with their cousins, Jennifer and Jemarose Galabay, Jennyfer Macapugay and Melfin Santos.

Witnesses said Jennifer Galabay and Padilla suddenly called for help in the middle of the river, prompting Ramos to swim to their rescue. Ramos managed to pull out Galabay, but was dragged along when the grade school pupil returned for Padilla.
