Temperatures may be soaring in most parts of the country but it’s not officially the start of the summer season just yet.
Aldczar Aurelio, weather forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said on Friday that the dry season is just around the corner and may be declared sometime next week.
Based on the daily weather bulletin, the easterlies, or the warm winds blowing from the east, are affecting the eastern section of the country. It is also the prevailing weather system during the summer season.
But the northeast monsoon or the hanging amihan bringing cool winds is still expected to return on Monday, Aurelio told INQUIRER.net. The onset of the summer season may only be declared once the northeast monsoon goes away completely.
On Thursday, Metro Manila recorded a temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius, but the heat index or the temperature felt by the body based on air temperature and humidity was registered at 38 degrees Celsius. IDL/rga
