QC cops nab suspect in MMDA man’s slay
The Quezon City Police District has arrested the suspect in the killing of a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer in January 2016. Henry Argales, 44, was allegedly one of the two motorcycle-riding men flagged down by MMDA constable Sydney Role, 38, for going counterflow along Commonwealth Avenue near Tandang Sora on Jan. 4, 2016. The police said security camera footage caught Argales shooting Sora twice in the head before fleeing with his companion. An arrest warrant against Argales was issued only on Jan. 27 this year by Judge Alfonso Ruiz II of QC Regional Trial Court Branch 216. With the help of an informant, the QCPD found the suspect Monday afternoon in Barangay San Isidro. According to Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve, chief of the QCPD homicide section, Argales was also being linked to the killing of Marie Jane Bugarin Mabato in Barangay Pasong Tamo on Nov. 20, 2015. In the Mabato case, he allegedly served as the gunman’s lookout and driver, Monsalve said. —Jhesset O. Enano
