MANILA, Philippines—Ang Galing Pinoy Party-list Representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and his wife are asking a Quezon City court to defer their November 9 arraignment for tax evasion charges pending the Department of Justice’s resolution on their appeal.
In an omnibus motion filed through their counsel, the couple said Arroyo, a son of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, needed to travel to the United States for a semi-official business on November 14 to December 7, 2011.
The couple added that the DOJ has yet to rule on their motion for reconsideration on the filing of tax evasion raps against them.
