PNP’s No. 2 named

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has implemented a minor revamp among its top echelon after its second-in-command, Deputy Director General Francisco Uyami Jr., retired on March 17.

PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday said Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario will replace Uyami as the new Deputy Chief for Administration.

“With the retirement of General Uyami, General Apolinario is now No. 2,” Dela Rosa told a press conference.

Director Fernando Mendez Jr. will replace Apolinario as the PNP’s Deputy Chief for Operations, the national police’s third in command, Dela Rosa added.

Dela Rosa said Mendez’s former post as acting chief of the PNP’s Directorial Staff went to Director Archie Francisco Gamboa, former head of the Directorate for Comptrollership.

Gamboa’s position went to Chief Supt. Ramon Purugganan, former acting director for Personnel and Records Management.
