Did You Know: Araneta Coliseum

Araneta Coliseum, located in  Cubao, Quezon City, was inaugurated on March 16, 1960.

Construction of “The Big Dome” began  in 1957 and was finished in late 1959. Occupying an area of almost 4 ha, it  has since hosted over 6,000 shows viewed by 35 million.

In 2011, it was renamed Smart Araneta Coliseum following a landmark naming rights agreement with telecom firm  Smart. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
