A fire hit the warehouse of an appliance store at Trinoma Mall in Quezon City on Monday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of the establishment’s customers and employees.

Quezon City fire marshal Senior Supt. Manuel Manuel said the blaze started at 2:22 p.m. and reached the second alarm 10 minutes later.

Firefighters had a hard time putting out the blaze because of the thick smoke that enveloped the mall’s ground floor, he added.

Arrest warrant out for robbery-homicide, rape suspect

A warrant of arrest has been issued for the suspect in the July 2016 robbery-killing of two dentists in separate incidents in Makati City.

The police said that Allen Hussein Sumadlayon, whose last known address was Barangay Carmona in Makati City, was also linked to several rape cases which happened in stolen taxicabs.

Judge Maximo de Leon of the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 143 issued the arrest warrant in February after receiving the robbery-homicide charge against Sumadlayon for the killing of dentists Raquel Magsalin and Antonio Limos.

Sumadlayon, alias Marco Santiago and Danell Santiago, was identified through artist sketches, SPO2 Rico Caramat said. He was also identified by a call center agent as the taxi driver who tried to rape her in April 2016. —Erika Sauler
