Army initiates Lakbay Aral in NegOr

A TOTAL of 60 school pupils from sitio Candanqui Elementary School, Tanjay City had an educational tour dubbed “Bayanihan para sa kabataan lakbay aral.”

The Army’s 302 Infantry Brigade and 79th Infantry Battalion, in coordination with Oriental Negros Children’s Advocacy Network (ONCAN), Department of Education and Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, initiated the tour, said information officer 1Lt. Roel Morales.

The activity aimed to create a positive outlook in life by exposing the schoolchildren to other people, places and events.

Morales said the activity also aimed to promote education to the community and strengthen the AFP’s partnership with various stakeholders in the province.

The pupils, accompanied by their teachers and school principal Anecito Gazo, first visited the Dumaguete City Airport before going to McDonald’s restaurant for breakfast.

The group then proceeded to the Cathedral Church and Bell Tower in Dumaguete City, Sidlakang Negros Village and the Provincial Capitol. They also observed the demonstration of the eco-kalan at the Felipa Beach Resort where they took lunch.

Morales said around 2 p.m., the pupils trooped to Robinson’s Place where they experienced the city life. Each of them were also given two tokens for games at the Robinsons World of Fun.

Col. Christopher Estella, 302 Brigade deputy commander, and ONCAN president Marietta Jambora gave gifts and snacks to the schoolchildren at Jollibee Robinsons.
