A Ross by any other name? Chris Ross may seem misplaced in this week’s roster of newsmakers but his achievement should not be overlooked.
Ross averaged 17.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.8 steals in the PBA Philippine Cup championship series as he led San Miguel Beer to a 4-1 series victory over Barangay Ginebra, the third straight all-Filipino title for the Beermen.
The feat allowed San Miguel Beer to take home the tournament’s perpetual trophy and established Ross as a championship-caliber player who thrives when the stakes are highest.
It was, after all, his second Finals MVP award after last year’s trophy for leading the Beermen’s historic comeback from a 0-3 deficit — a first in the game of basketball worldwide — in their best-of-seven duel against Alaska.
