6-year-old dies in Quezon road accident

LUCENA CITY – A six-year-old boy has been killed in a vehicular accident in Calauag town in Quezon province, police said.

Chief Insp. Michael Encio, Calauag police chief, said the suspect Resty Corporal, 48, was driving a Hyundai cargo van along the Maharlika Highway toward Labo, Camarines Norte when he accidentally bumped the victim Arvin Villar in Barangay (village) Sta. Maria, around 9:15 p.m., Tuesday.

The driver brought the victim to the St. Peter General Hospital in Calauag town proper but he was declared dead on arrival due to fatal body injuries.

Encio said Corporal voluntarily turned himself in to the police station and reported the accident. Investigation report said the victim suddenly crossed the highway when he was hit by the incoming vehicle.  SFM/rga
