KORONADAL CITY – A militiaman shot dead two of his colleagues during a dispute over kitchen duties inside their detachment in Barangay Kipalpig in Tampakan, South Cotabato on Monday evening.

Killed were Jose Uganap, 36 of Purok Marcos, Barangay Sta. Cruz, also in Tampakan; and Raymund Blanza, 25, of Barangay Cebuano in Tupi, South Cotabato.  Both were members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu).

Chief Inspector Harold Cornel, the Tampakan town police chief, identified the suspect as Jeffrey Tante, 23, of Barangay Kablon in Tupi.

Sergeant Dennis Rivera, the detachment commander, said that prior to the shooting, the three militiamen were in a heated argument over kitchen chores for the day.

Rivera told police investigators that after his mediation, the trio came to an agreement.

But suddenly, Tante who was later named as kitchen personnel of the day, pulled an M-16 Armalite rifle and opened fire on his unsuspecting comrades.

He fled with the rifle and is now the subject of a police manhunt.  SFM
