Canadian trader shot dead in Pasay

Police investigators are looking at a love triangle as a possible motive in the shooting of a Canadian national in Pasay City on Monday night.

Nanthakumaran Kumarasamy, 55, a businessman, was shot while his vehicle was stuck in traffic on Edsa Extension going to Macapagal Avenue intersection about 6:30 p.m.

Kumarasamy was driving a Suzuki APV (PHO 894) on the way home with his pregnant Filipino wife, Irene, 24, when the gunman approached the vehicle.

The Canadian, a resident of Gatchalian Subdivision, Parañaque City, operated a cell phone shop at Victory Mall in Pasay City.

Insp. Rolando Baula, chief of Pasay police investigation unit, said the shooting incident did not seem to be related to illegal drugs.

Investigation showed that the victim was a “womanizer” who got married just last month and that this was also admitted by his widow, who was eight months pregnant, Baula told the Inquirer on Tuesday.—Erika Sauler
