SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — A man charged with rape in Concepcion town in Romblon province was arrested by police in Batangas City in Monday after three months of police surveillance, authorities said.

In a phone interview, Chief Insp. Peter Bryan Fallurin, Concepcion police chief, said the suspect, Rommel Pahilago, was arrested at 9:30 a.m. inside his relatives’ home in Batangas City.

Police were armed with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Ramiro Geronimo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 81 of Romblon town in Romblon province.

Pahilago, 46, was charged with rape, involving a 40-year-old woman in Concepcion in 2006, making him the most wanted criminal in the town.

Romblon police intelligence chief Allan Fruelda said Pahilago, after committing the crime, moved from one location to another in Romblon and Batangas, “making it quite difficult for us to find him.”  SFM
