GENERAL SANTOS CITY—The body of a woman missing for at least six months had been found in a septic tank in a village here following a search driven by dreams in which the missing woman was supposed to have appeared.
Since April, the eight children of Nimfa Dajay had been asking where she was. Their father, Fermin, would give different answers, the last of which was that Nimfa was in Arakan, North Cotabato, her hometown.
The puzzle of Nimfa’s absence grew bigger when her youngest child, Marlon, died in a road accident and still, Nimfa didn’t come home.
At that time, Fermin had been arrested for allegedly raping one of Nimfa’s sisters.
On Oct. 29, the search for Nimfa ended in an abandoned septic tank at the house of a relative in Barangay Ligaya.
Village officials had helped in the search, acting on reports of Nimfa appearing in dreams twice—once in a dream by her married daughter, Darlyn Dajay, and the second in a dream by Alejandro Amoy, the owner of the house where Nimfa’s body was found.
Amoy said that in his dream Nimfa was very specific about where her body was dumped. “Two weeks ago, Nimfa appeared in my dream and asked me to open the septic tank,” said Amoy.
Amoy said he ignored the dream until he got a call from Darlyn on Oct. 29 who told him that she had the same dream.
With some relatives, Amoy said he proceeded to the septic tank at his house, opened its cover and found a set of human skeletons. Amoy called up village chair Romy Pagaduan, who, in turn, called up police.
Nimfa’s children identified the remains as their mother’s through the clothes that were left on them.
“We were suspecting that something bad happened to our mom because she failed to return home despite the death of her youngest son,” said Gerald, one of Nimfa’s children.
Gerald said the children had no other suspect in the death of their mother but Fermin, who had physically abused Nimfa.
PO2 Angel Marquez, one of the investigators in the case, said Nimfa had supported the filing of a rape case against Fermin by a younger sister, which could be the motive for Fermin to kill Nimfa.
Marquez said police are now preparing charges against Fermin for the death of Nimfa on top of the rape case that Fermin faces for the alleged rape of Nimfa’s sister. Aquiles Z. Zonio, Inquirer Mindanao
