‘Garden of Native Trees’ to rise on Manila campus

The College of the Holy Spirit Manila (CHSM) recently launched “Laudato Si Garden of Native Trees” project on its Mendiola grounds, taking inspiration from Pope Francis’ call to care for Mother Earth as humanity’s “common home.” The groundbreaking and dedication ceremony was held on Feb. 22 in memory of the late Dr. Isabel P. Hizon, CHSM professor emerita and “Alumna of the Century.” The project is spearheaded by CHSM alumna Imelda P. Sarmiento. “The garden is one of CHSM’s concrete responses to mitigate the impact of climate change on our country, which is among those most vulnerable to this crisis. It also expresses the congregation and the school’s desire for communion with Mother Earth,” said CHSM president Jesusa Marco.
