2 Abu Sayyaf bandits killed, 5 wounded in clash with gov’t troops

Two members of the Abu Sayyaf Group were killed and five were wounded in an encounter with government forces in Sulu, the military said Thursday.

Soldiers from the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion figured with the terrorists in a “heavy armed confrontation” in Brgy. Bud Taran in Indanan town on Wednesday afternoon, Joint Task Force Sulu Commander Col. Cirilito Sobejana said.

Eleven soldiers also suffered injuries, with two sustaining gunshot wounds. They were given medical attention at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Hospital.
