Western Visayas, Negros Occ workers to get P15-25 wage hikes

ILOILO CITY — Employees in the private sector in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental will receive an increase in the daily minimum wage ranging from P15 to P25 effective March 16, according to the regional wage board.

The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productive Board approved the increase on Dec. 15, 2016 and the increases were affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission on Feb 17.

Those employed in firms with more than 10 workers and those in the industrial/commercial and non-agriculture sector will receive P323.50 day from the previous 298.50 per day.

In companies with 10 workers and less, the new minimum daily wage is P271.50 from P256.50.

In the agriculture sector, workers in plantations will receive P281.50 per day, up from P266.50 daily. The new minimum daily wage in non-plantations has been raised to P271.50 from the previous P256.50.  SFM
